Il Pianigiano

Certaldo is right in the heart of Tuscany and due to its location is the ideal starting point for tours to Florence, Siena, Pisa, S.Gimignano, Volterra and many other places. The old part of the town is worth a visit itself.

Clean and quiet Il Pianigiano is in the middle of the countryside, but still only a ten minute walk from the town centre.
This is a great place to get a good sleep at night and relax during the day in our garden or in the front yard.
There is also a dining room where you can enjoy your meals and chat with your friends.
Every room has its own bathroom, air conditioning and tv set. All rooms are cleaned daily by our professional full time staff.

This is a great B&B. Everything is new and well-maintained. We provide free maps and we occasionally organize tours to wine shops and olive oil producers in the area. There is a good range of facilities and here is a list of what we offer in our accomodation:

Since this is a family owned business the manager lives on site and you can check in at any time of the day. There's no curfew or lockout, you will have your own key to let you in any time you want.
If you are coming by train let us know about it, we'll come and pick you up at the train station and once at the B&B you can use our bicycles for your tours and transfers.

How to go there:

Certaldo is located between Firenze and Siena but it's very easy to get here even from many other locations. You can come here by car but you can also decide to arrive by train since there is a very easily reacheable railway station right in the centre of the town. Here are some hints on how to get here from some neighbouring spots.

By train


From Florence take a train to Siena and get off in Certaldo. You may have a connection in Empoli, check out the schedule.

From Siena catch a train to Florence and still get off in Certaldo (no other possible connections).

From Pisa first you need to get to Empoli and then take the train that goes to Siena and still get off in Certaldo.

Pisa: 1hr 30 min

Give us a call and tell us when you arrive at the station and we'll be glad to pick you up there. If you wanna have a walk from there, just turn left from the station along the one way main road, after approximately 1.5 km. (passing the Supermarket Coop) you'll find "Via Fonda" on your left, walk through this way till you find our place on your left side.

By car

From Florence:

Take the freeway to Siena (from A1 highway exit at Firenze Certosa).
Exit at Poggibonsi Nord and follow the sign that says "Certaldo".
Cross the whole town of Certaldo, turn left to Via Toscana and after about 1.00 km. turn left again into a very small road, cross a bridge and then turn left once more. You'll see the sign of the B&B on your right side after a few hundred meters.

From Siena:

Take the freeway to Florence.
Exit at Poggibonsi Nord and follow the sign that says "Certaldo".
Cross the whole town of Certaldo, turn left to Via Toscana and after about 1.00 km. turn left again into a very small road, cross a bridge and then turn left once more. You'll see the sign of the B&B on your right side after a few hundred meters.

From Pisa:

Take the freeway (S.G.C.) Firenze-Pisa-Livorno direction Firenze.
Exit at Empoli Ovest and follow the direction direction Siena.
After you pass the sign that says "Certaldo" you'll notice a small asphalt road on your right, just before the factory complex "Nencini & Masini". Drive through this road till you see the sign of our B&B on your right.
