Generaal Eisenhowerplein 1 2288 AE Rijswijk Netherlands  This first-class hotel on the outskirts of The Hague offers guests a special ambience, thanks to the innovative interior design and the high degree of luxury and comfort. Guests have the pleasure of dining in two restaurants; Restaurant LEDS and The Grand Canteen. The hotel is easily accessible by car and public transport, and within walking distance of Rijswijk NS train station. Not only impressive for being Holland’s political capital, The Hague is popular amongst culture-vultures and shopping fanatics alike.The Grand Winston Hotel has a striking appearance. While the outside is robust and sturdy, the interior is remarkably different. The daring approach to the semi-public spaces was the responsibility of Concrete Architectural Associates, who were brought to help shape the construction. Transparency, or rather semi-transparency, is the key to their approach. Translucent curtains are used in several locations, most strikingly in front of the immense wall with 3030 LEDs; small lights in dozens of colours. In the lobby behind the reception desk, the daylight of the seven-metre high wall of glass is broken by a ‘vertical chandelier’ of 1200 glass fibres that are broken at regular intervals so the light can escape sideways. The à-la-carte Restaurant LEDS is in a concrete “bowl”, constructed on the spot, hanging above The Grand Canteen brasserie and the bar. All the kitchens are visible to the guests through glass walls.
