Ronda is located 51 kilometers inland from the costal town of San Pedro the Alcantara and about an hour and a half drive away from Malaga airport. Ronda, located upon a high cliff is one of the most beautiful and interesting towns to visit in Andalusia. The old side of the town is dramatically divided from the newer part by a mighty gorge known as "El Tajo". The two parts of the town are linked by a bridge known as the Puente Nuevo from where you can have amazing views down the gorge; the bridge was completed in 1793.

In the old part of Ronda you can find a number of interesting Moorish remains such as the Mondragon Palace where the Moorish rulers resided until the Reconquest. The beautiful palace now houses the municipal Museum. The Casa del Rey Moro with its lengthy rock cut stairway known as La Mina, which leads down to the gorge's river.

A few meters away from the Puente de San Miguel you'll find the Banos Arabes. This hammam dating back to the 13th century is one of the best preserved in the region. Located at the entrance to the Iglesia del Espiritu Santo street is the impressive Puerta de Almocabar that served as the main entrance to the town in the 13th century.

Ronda is also well known for it's bullring which is one of the oldest and nicest in the whole of Spain, the building houses a museum. During the famous September feria one can see traditional bullfights and original 18th century costumes worn by the bullfighters.

Other sights worth visiting within the town include; Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor, Alminar de San Sebastian, Muralla y Puerta de Cijara and the Casa Don Bosco. There are several interesting museums located in the old town.

Ronda counts many bars and restaurants, some with excellent dishes and tapas while others should best be avoided... Ask us for our experienced advice when you go out for a diner or a bite!
